More Pumping At Work Woes.

Pumping at work is awkward. The first time I did it, I felt really weird sitting in a room, at work, naked from the waist up. Weird. I got over it quickly, but the weirdness is still there.

When I walk to the pumping room, I have a backpack on (the pump), laptop in the crook of my arm and my little ice cooler in the other hand. Often times people pass me in the hall and say “have a good day!” or “see you tomorrow!” I just smile – I don’t want to say, “not going home yet, just going to a room to get milk out of my boobs!”

When I’m done pumping, I go into the ladies room to clean the bottles and shields out. I do this as fast as I can and avert eye contact. It’s weird to see your coworker cleaning baby bottles out. And for those who aren’t moms, they are probably wondering what the heck those cone things are for – or worse, they figure out what they are used for. Awkward, awkward, awkward.

And finally today, I was putting my little ice pack/cooler in the fridge and a girls says “oh how cute your little lunch bag is!” And I said, “yes…it’s small.” I didn’t know what to say.

Did I mention pumping at work is awkward?

Happy 7 Months, Mr. Charlie!

Yesterday Charlie turned 7 months old - wait, what?! How did this

turn into this

The last 30 days have brought HUGE milestones for Charlie. He is doing such big boy things now. Charlie is full on crawling - and he is fast. The cool tile in our bathroom and entryway does not stop him from zooming around the house. Any floor is fair game.

In addition to crawling, he pulls him self up and is standing by himself (by holding on to something of course). Not only is he pulling himself up and standing, he can stand and hold himself with ONE hand. Is he a freak or is this normal at this age? I love my freak.

He's recently been sticking his tongue out - a lot. He went through a phase a few months ago when he "found" his tongue but he has now found it again apparently. I love to try to kiss his tongue. Thats weird, I probably shouldn't admit that.

Charlie's Mimi also took pictures of Charlie on his 7 month birthday. I'm not sure what is going on with outfit #1 but they were too cute to not post.
This toy is his favorite toy right now.

We have a ton of video but I'll spare you a little. I'm not sparing you 100% though. Here is a video of him crawling, taken a few days ago.

And here are two videos of him pulling himself up on his 7 month birthday. I rotated the camera to get a longer view of him, but now I can't figure out how to rotate the video. Sorry the next two videos are crooked.

Happy Birthday, Monkey! We love you!!

Who Dat?

One of the bloggers I read prompted her readers to comment on her blog and introduce themselves. Lets have a coombaya moment shall we? Right now I have 34 followers and 58 subscribers to my blog and anyone who knows me knows I do not have that many friends.

So who are all of y'all? I'd love to know.

Bonus points for putting the link of your blog in the comment so I can read your blog, too!

That's Random.

Today I saw two homeless men (not together) and they each had a dog. I felt really bad...for the dogs. This probably makes me a bad person.

That's Random.

I was one of the five Americans who was shocked when Ricky came out of the closet. I know the fitted v-neck t-shirts, man jewelry and well groomed-ness should have been a giveaway, but I just chaulked it up to him being foreign.

Pebble Beach - Part 3, The Final Installment.

Rob and his friend Brad played Pebble pretty early so I decided to head home with Charlie. It took about 9 trips to the car with our stuff and Charlie in the bjorn before we were ready to go. I checked out and got a $8 single latte then was on the road.

Rob REALLY loved playing golf at Pebble and can't wait to go back someday. For me, it was nice to have a change of scenery and I always like going to the Monterey area. I wouldn't say it was relaxing, but it was nice to get away. It was our first real vacation with Charlie and I think it was a success. We have gone overnight to the beach house but thats sort of a home away from home - its just different. I am not sure I'm ready to fly with him yet, but little roadtrips are something I wouldn't mind doing more often.

Here are some pictures of the boys golfing...

..and here is Charlie and Rob being reunited after a long day apart. Charlie couldn't wait to give his daddy a big birthday kissy!

That's Random.

One of the blogs I read, Aly's Bloggity Blog, posts a random thing of the day. I've only read two of hers so far but they totally made me laugh. I do a lot of weird stuff that really isn't worth blogging about but its my blog and I'm an adult who can do whatever she wants. :)

So this will be my first That's Random post.

I love getting earwax out of Charlie's ears. The more orange, the better. I'll even fish it out, gently, with my finger or nail. I examine what I've plucked out. As soon as I get home from work, I always pick him up then start eyeing his ears. The boy has a lot of wax and mommy likey! Rob thinks its totally disgusting that I do this.

Pebble Beach - Part 2

Saturday morning we woke up and ordered room service. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes and a latte and Rob just wanted 2 banana smoothies. The menu said strawberry banana but Rob is very adverse to strawberries - the story goes he was puked on by a little girl who ate a boat load of strawberries and it has ruined him ever since. When it arrived, he got this:
He asked "are you sure there are no strawberries in here?" They said "correct, no strawberries." Rob was wondering why his banana smoothie was red so he called and got confirmation that they added blueberries and raspberries to it. Weird. Rob isn't a berry guy so we asked them to re-make his banana smoothie and only add bananas.

After letting Charlie escape from his baby jail,

we spent some time on the bed chatting together. All of a sudden I heard some fluttering, I looked over and there is a bird on the chair. We had left the door open because the room was a little stuffy. I grabbed Charlie because I had visions of the bird pecking his little blue eyes out and ran to the other side of the room. After checking out my pancakes, the bird hopped his way out of our room and I closed the door behind him.
Charlie liked the bird, I think.
After our wildlife adventure, we got ready to go to lunch.
We had lunch at the Gallery Cafe which is their casual restaurant that the golfers typically eat at. I got a yummy salad. The salad came with raspberries and I asked for apples instead. They gave me apples AND raspberries, this place sure does love their berries. No biggie, I just picked them out.

After lunch, we did a little shopping.

Charlie decided to go #2 while shopping so I had to change his diaper in one of the dressing rooms. I'm sure the other patrons enjoyed the scent we left behind. Then he passed out for a bit.
Once we got back to the room, we showed Charlie all the gifts we bought him and Rob read him a book about golf.
After a little nappy poo, it was time for dinner. We headed over to one of our favorite restaurants, Roys at Spanish Bay. Mama finally got her cocktail - two to be exact. I was feeling a little relaxed until I realized Charlie decided to do another public poop. I decided to go to the car and change him, I haven't changed him in a public restroom yet.
There was a couple next to us that was in love with Charlie. I asked them if they wanted him, and they said yes. Rob told them we'd be back to pick him up in 2 hours. They laughed and smiled and assumed we were kidding.

Part 3 will include some great pictures from the course and some super cute daddy and son reunion pictures.

Pebble Beach - Part 1

Rob, Charlie and I are at Pebble Beach this weekend. It's Saturday right now and I'm with a napping Charlie while Rob hits some balls. I thought I'd take this time to start blogging.

We were planning to leave on Friday at 1:00 pm but didn't leave our house until 3:40 pm. When we knew 1:00 pm wasn't going to happen, we said our goal would be 2:00. Then 3:00. Then 3:30. So really, we were only 10 mins late from goal #4. Anyone with a kid knows things just take longer to go anywhere/pack when you have kids. PLEASE tell me this gets easier when they get older. Or, just lie and say it does.

So we are finally on the road and don't get in any traffic and Charlie is sleeping like a lamb. We check in and immediately get some grub at their casual sports bar type restaurant, The Tap Room. I asked to put us in the corner away from everyone else because Charlie had been in his carseat for an hour and knew he'd get antsy. I was right. We traded off holding him so the other could eat.

I decided to order a drink because I've felt a little on edge and I haven't had drink in over 15 months so I was due for one. I accidently ordered a tequila drink and couldn't drink it. I then ordered an apple martini and only had 2 sips. It didnt' taste as yummy as they used to. I'm sure I just wasted at least $20 on drinks - oh well!

After dinner, we headed back to our room. When we were inside the room, I think we were both a little disappointed. Last time we were here (at least 5 years ago), we also had a Garden Room but our room had a hot tub outside and it was awesome. I had called earlier this week to make sure we had a hot tub because Charlie usually goes to bed around 7:00 pm and I thought it would be awesome to go in the hot tub while he slept instead of sitting in silence until it was our bed time. Anyway, our room did not have a hot tub and we couldn't upgrade if we wanted to because they were sold out. So that was a bummer but the room was also smaller and not as nice as the one we had last time. Its fine, its not old or gross but didn't have that wow factor like our room did last time. I wish I would have known we were upgraded last time so my expectations weren't so high or so we could choose to upgrade if wanted to. I also felt like I was rooming with my brother because we had 1 queen beds. I don't have a brother, but if I did, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to sleep in the same bed with him.

Our room does have a partial ocean view which is nice - our last room didn't have a view of the ocean.

We brought a comforter with us to lay on the hotel room floor so Charlie can crawl around on it. We had to have it laundered last night due to the many spit ups Charlie made. We're now convinced he is allergic to avocados. He started getting welts and little red dots on his face like he used to get when I ate peanuts.

I was in the bathroom and heard "OHMYGOD...Eww ewwww!!" And came out to see this:

I've been spit up on many parts of my body, but I don't think I've ever gotten it in the eye.

Charlie went down in his pack n play around 8:45 and slept until 7:37 am. Rob and I also slept very well ourselves. The beds were really comfy and the rooms were very dark.

Stay tuned for Saturday's update...a preview: we had some wild life in our room this morning. The excitement never ends!
