What I'm Loving Wednesday.

My neighbor has huge Easter eggs on their lawn and it looks so cool. I want need them! This is what I'm loving today.

I am not loving that they are $20 each.

It's Ok to Say No to Free.

I follow my sister's college friend's "deals" blog. She often times has good deals posted that I take advantage of and sometimes she has links to sites that are offering free samples. She had one for a free nail polish which is exciting but the color was not. It was blue. I thought "what the heck, it could be fun" and a few weeks later, I got my Essie nail polish in the mail, full sized bottle to boot.

Yesterday during Charlie's nap, I decided to give it a whirl. I knew right away it was a mistake but I kept going. I thought maybe I'd have time to add some pink dots on them and pretend I was getting in the Easter spirit. I met my sister later that night and showed her my smurf toes and her laughter was the reaction I was fully expecting.

I think the worst part about blue toes is trying to get rid of them. That nasty polish is a bit** to get off. For the life of me, I cannot get it out of the crack between my skin and nail so now my foot just looks dirty. I tried to color over the blue in a hot pink but it just looked worse. So now I have one blue foot and one dirty looking foot. Charlie and I had a playdate with our friends Maryanne and Matthew and I wasn't about to go out in public in my toes current state so I wore my sketcher mom shoes. I think a trip to the local pedicure lady is in my near future.

You Might Be a Mom If...

You know those lists you read about being a mom, like "you know you are a mom when you haven't had a warm meal in weeks", etc. I thought of a couple non traditional ones to add to the list. These two are from the past two weeks.

You know you are a mom when...

1.) You find a mega block in your bed and don't think nothing of it
2.) You find yourself at Safeway with poo on your pants

Do any of you have anything to add from personal experience? I'd love to hear them.

Honeymoon Phase.

I'm 2 weeks into my new job of stay at home mom. My friend Melissa said there is a honeymoon stage and I'm knee deep in it. That doesn't mean everything is fun and awesome. On both Fridays, Charlie had a nap strike and I was not happy about it, nor was he. But, the other four days of the week went pretty well. We had regular get togethers with Charlie's cousins, went to a local amusement park geared towards toddlers (and got a membership, woot!), went to an inflatable jump house place, had breakfast with my mom and sister, met mom and sister (and cousins) at Peet's one morning, etc. And we also had the non glamourous fun of wiping bums, noses, etc. I'm looking forward to exploring more local attractions, having walks with our friend D and visiting other local stay at home mamas.

Here are some pictures of our first couple weeks...

Advice.

If your husband gets a speeding ticket, don't be too mad at him because a month later, you yourself may just get one. G'bye $800!

What I'm Loving Wednesday.

I am loving casual breakfasts with my mom, sister and kids. I hosted the first of hopefully many casual breakfasts this morning. I made a weight watcher frittata, Ashley brought the fruit and mom got Starbucks. Gracie was at school so we just had Emily today with Charlie. We're hoping to do this on a regular basis. Very casual and easy food are the requirements.

Nice action shot! Don't worry, no kids were hurt. :)

*forgot to put the flash on, a bit blurry folks!

That's Random.

I'm allergic to sponges. Ok, not really but I do not like sponges. They sort of freak me out. I know you can zap them in the microwave and get rid of the bacteria and whatever else is growing in your sponge but I just don't like them. They are ok for cleaning the house, not cleaning dishes.

But for some reason, I'm ok with using this dish scrubbing device that was left by our home's prior owners. Three years ago. Even though it was used on other people's dishes for whom I didn't know very well, and even though its at least 3 years old and we have never cleaned it, it doesn't gross me out. Not one bit.

*side note: even though it doesn't gross me out, I would never use it to clean a "clean by hand" item. I'm ok with using this random thing and throwing items in the dishwasher. If I have to clean something by hand, I'll use my hands (literally) and maybe a sponge. Then, the sponge gets tossed in the trash.

15 Months Stats and Self Feeding Dramatizations.

Charlie had a dr.'s appointment last week. Here are his stats:

Weight: 24 lbs (55th percentile)
Height: 31 inches (50th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.5 inches (50th percentile)

Charlie feeds himself things like toast, cheerios, etc. but he doesn't use a fork or spoon. She told me to start this now.

First attempt was with mac n cheese which was a semi-new food for him. I'll let you decide how it went down...

Then we switched to his all time favorite food: yogurt.

What a stinker!

Oh and per the doc, we need to work on: losing the bottle and putting milk in the sippy cup, getting him to sleep on his own (I know, we are long over due on this one), encouraging him to talk more, self feeding (see above on how that's working out for us) and dropping 1 bottle of milk a day (going from 3 to 2). Fun!

Help Me.

What would you do?

I found the entryway table of my dreams at Pier 1. Its $500. Here are my options:

Option 1: Buy table at a store 45 minutes away with 20% coupon so price is $400, haul back home.

Option 2: Buy display table at a store 10 minutes away at 50% off so price is $250. Display table has BIG crack in the middle. I'd have to put a runner on it.

I don't think there is anyway to fix the crack at all. Its pretty bad but I can cover it up easily with a runner. But I'm not sure if I like the idea of HAVING to always have a runner on it. But after all, its only $250 so if I change my mind in a few years, big deal. However, I LOVE it so maybe I should spend the extra $150 and get it as beautiful as it can be. Ugh... see the dilemma?

A Year Ago Today...

I'd like to put some butter on those rolls.

What I'm Loving Wednesday.

I'm loving the Archer Farms Blueberry with Almond Flax Oatmeal. Yum.

Olay Total Effects + Touch of Sun Moisturizer. I'm not tan, but I don't look ill. A little color goes a long way. I ran out of the moisturizer for a few days and used my back up/non tinted moisturizer and I just looked dull. I realized my faux tan was fading and after a few days back on Olay, I looked normal again. Yeah for normal!

Both can be found at Target.
