Adventures in Baby Food Making: Squash

Last Saturday we hosted a pool party/bbq/welcome home party for my sister and her family who recently moved to our hometown, where I currently live. After everyone left, the REAL party started: Dorothy and I made squash baby food. I know, we live exciting lives!

We used this new silicone steamer my mom bought me. I thought it was not working so well and Dorothy thought it was very different from the ones she has used. I thought you were supposed to balance it on the top of the rim of the pot. I put it on the pot and could only fit 2 squash on there at once and thought this is going to be a looooooong process. Then the squash would get unbalanced and fall through to the bottom of the pot instead of resting on the steamer.

Dorothy realized I wasn't using it correctly and figured it out that you are supposed to fill the pot with a little bit of water, then you can push the steamer at the bottom of the pot, above the water and fill the pot up with veggies. That makes WAY more sense!

And.........he liked it! What a shock, I know.

The Return of Chunky Monkey.

Charlie had his weigh in this morning at the dr.'s to see if he has gained weight in the last 2 weeks. We have been supplementing with formula since the last visit and gave him a lot of fattening avocados. The results: our monkey gained almost 2 lbs! He is now 17 lbs 7 ozs which moves him from the 25th percentile to the 50th percentile.

Charlie was not a fan of the scale. I'm not sure why he freaked out. Rob thinks its because the room we were in was COLD but who knows. Doesn't "cold" look weird? Do you ever type words and think, is that right? Maybe its because its in caps or because I don't type the word cold too often. Its kind of a weird word isn't it? Cold. Hmm.

Our cold and not so happy, chunky monkey:

This Morning...

I was back on the balcony of my hotel room at the Halekulani in Waikiki.

Not really. But have you tried this?

It is REALLY good and honestly reminded me of the coconut lattes that I had in Hawaii. The yummy scent makes me want to take a bath in it. I think its new - I have never seen it before.

Is it a coincidence that I was pregnant in Waikiki?
I'm done talking about pregnancy for awhile. I'm worried Rob will have a heart attack if he really thought I was ready for another baby.

Another Confession.

I've been sleeping with my pregnancy pillow for the past few nights.

What is wrong with me?!

Confession:

I really, really miss being pregnant.

25 weeks
28 weeks

37 weeks

No, I'm not pregnant or trying. But I am really looking forward to having another little peanut in my belly - so I can eat anything I want. Oh and also to have another little baby to munch on. Someday!

Change of Scenery...

is good for everyone dontyathink?

Sometimes when Charlie gets fussy, we take it outside

I remind him that I love him to pieces

And I give him extra kissies Sometimes its enough to snap him out of his funk And sometimes from our kitchen window, I catch daddy performing the same tricks

Even when you're a bit fussy, we love to love on you. You are still too little to be grossed out by our kissies and not strong enough to wiggle out of our arms when we want to squeeze you.

So don't grow up too fast -- ok little monkey?

Charlie's 1st Swim - 30 While 30 #3

Yesterday my sister and my nieces came over to go swimming. Charlie was sleeping when they got here and woke up just before we were going into the pool so the timing was pretty perfect - this doesn't happen often. I finally knocked off 1 item on my 30 list because this was the first time Charlie has been swimming/floating.

Did I mention how HOT it was?

We didn't stay in the pool long but it was nice while it lasted. Later when Charlie was napping, I laid out for a bit and took another impromptu dip in the pool. We finished the day with ice cream sundaes at Mimi and Poppy's house. It was a pretty good day!
